The department of Medicine has
been a major pillar in the foundation and running of Rajindra
hospital, Patiala since it was started. Being one of the
largest Departments of the hospital, Medicine Department has
always been a role model for providing cost effective health
services to a large population of Punjab and even from the
other parts of the country. Amongst all departments, Medicine
department caters to the health needs of maximum number of
O.P.D as well as indoor patients. Despite the emergence of
Private sector in recent years, the Department of the
hospital continues to hold its own when it comes to healing the poor
citizen and yet provides efficient 24 hour emergency services,
apart from providing super speciality services in Cardiology,
Neurology, Gastroentrology, Endocrinology, Nephrology &
Pulmonology.
Apart from the daily O.P.D and Emergency services in
respective blocks, this department consist of 6 separate full
fledged units each having their own wards. Having a total of
200 beds where patients are admitted and taken care of in the
best possible manner. Each unit has a full fledged team of
experienced faculty including Professors/ Associate Profesors, Assistant Professors, Senior Resident /Lecturers and a
dedicated team of junior Residents. They are helped in their
efforts by a team of staff nurses, nursing students and
attendents.
